Tom's Chopshop

A discussion with Tom was the start of an illustration for the latest merch at the shop. FJ40, the truck we all know and love, on a set of clothing and prints.

The Toyota FJ40 has an iconic design and a strong history, a classic car hero. There's this underlying respect for the trusty truck and with it's characteristics and aesthetics the idea to turn in into a one off design illustration was created.

A brilliant illustration idea for the first round of merchandise arose whilst getting a haircut and that was enough to get the project underway.

The idea was this rusty, sweaty, action-filled, and early-mid 20th century theme to coincide with the long heritage of the barbershop profession. The tow truck was the star of the show and the barbershop pole gave it that final touch.
